mamelodi Sundowns have opened negotiations for two Free
State Stars players but the deal is still some way from being finalised,
officials said on Thursday.
“We have granted Sundowns permission to talk to them. It is
obvious that they must agree personal terms otherwise there is no point in the
clubs settling on the transfer deal,” Stars’ general manager Rantsi Mokoena.
“As far as we know, Sundowns are still talking to them and
when that is done then we’ll sit down and hammer out a deal.”
Mokoena said his club were comfortable in letting their
captain and goalkeeper Mweene go after eight seasons and more than 200 games
for the club.
